Attended by President Jungai Kang, Representative of AWS Korea Public Projects Yoon Jeong-won, and officials of two institutions, our university entered into an MOU for the subscription to the AWS Educate program and utilization of the program at the campus Administration Building on December 19.

AWS Educate is a program that is being used by more than 1,500 colleges around the world, including Carnegie Mellon University, Cornell Tech, and National University of Ireland. As the program has been designed by AWS, the number 1 enterprise occupying 44% of the global cloud market, to support the development of professional cloud computing human resources, it provides expert education on next generation IT and cloud subjects.

After discussing collaborative methods to foster women professionals in the IT industry through such opportunity, the school decided to introduce the AWS Educate program in our curriculum.

This MOU is expected to give the Sookmyung Women’s University students and faculty access to cloud contents, educational curriculum, collaborative tools of AWS. Also, the AWS credit will provide an opportunity to personally experience cloud technologies and AWS services without the burden of relevant costs.

Officials of AWS said, “As the ASW Educate program provides practical experience in cloud computing, it provides an opportunity for students to improve their competitiveness in the fierce employment market and an opportunity for teaching staff to develop diverse educational curriculum,” and “We hope that many future students and teachers can enjoy the various benefits provided by AWS Educate program.”
