On September 12, Sookmyung Women’s University’s main library held an Electronic Intelligence Fair where students learned how to use electronic information, such as scholar DBs (Databases), E-Journals, and E-Books. This 6-hour fair was packed with diverse and informative programs.

On the first floor of the library, students were able to visit 17 booths to learn how to use and ask questions on the following electronic information: domestic journals, foreign electronic journals, E-books, and scholastic DBs. They also had the opportunity to participate in various raffle events if they received more than three stamps after listening to guidance on how to use references at the designated booths.

In the education room located on the 5th floor, special lectures on academic DBs to help write papers and reports were held at 2 pm. The topics were "RefWorks" and the "Method to Search Statistics and Survey Data". The RefWorks lecture that was carried out by the section chief of the Korean branch of ProQuest mainly focused on saving and writing references through RefWorks. A video description of Refworks can also be found on the bottom right of our university library homepage. A lecture on how to search for statistics and survey data was conducted by Shin Tae Hyun, researcher at KSDC(Korean Social Science Data Center). The lectured was related to how to use the KSDC DB website, which encompasses 2,200 research data and 1,300 statistics in all subject areas. Moreover, the convenient part is that one does not need to make an account if he/she accesses it via the school library homepage.

This event was jointly held with Professor Lee Chun-sil’s (Dean of the College of Education) class of the Department of Library: "Information Retrieval Training" and "Electronic Publishing”. Students who participated in this fair said, "It was a valuable time to learn a lot of ways to utilize electronic intelligence. And I hope that even those who could not participate in the fair will be able to use various electronic information websites that our main library subscribes to."
