The Global Governance Institute of our university co-hosted this open forum with WBG Korea Office, GCF, and GGGI on ＇The Way to Enter the International Organization (Beyond the Barriers - Women in Development)＇in which became an opportunity to hear the voices of the global women leaders.  

There were 4 panels who participated in the debate; Joyce Msuya, the manager of WGB Korea Office; Mahua Acharya, the Deputy Minister of GGGI; Ayaan Adam, the Director of GCF Private Organization; and Choi Jiwoo, the Deputy Director of GCF Private Organization. The Deputy Director Choi, particularly, is a Sookmyung alumna who graduated from the Mathematics Department.  

They all have profound experiences and insights gained through years at the related International Organizations. The Manager Msuya had been in charge of strategy and investment business analysis and execution in Africa, South America and Asia for 17 years. The Deputy Minister Acharya has worked for a corporation related to green investment and renewable energy. Director Adam successively filled the role of Duty Manager in IFC. The Deputy Director Choi has a career as a credit risk specialist in Hanhwa Life overseas investment team and S&P.  

Panels encouraged young generations to enter the international organizations by introducing vibrant career experiences and personnel policies as executive members of the International Development fields. In addition, an interactive panel discussion was held on the role of each government and the Korean government in alleviating poverty and coping with climate change. During Q&A session followed by the forum, they answered to questions about distress as women in the International Organizations, pointed out corporate gender inequality cultures, and had a deep conversation on insufficient counter-measures for problems with climate refugees.  

Meanwhile, around 150 undergraduates and graduates who were interested in the international organizations attended the forum along with the U.S. ambassador and related industrialists. The host Global Governance Institute said, “We hope this event helps our students to go one step closer to their dreams of entering International Organizations. We will spare no efforts to hold quality academic events so as to provide students with more various information and opportunities”.
